It’s the year for changes!
We are always looking for ways to improve this conference and from the feedback we have received, look for some big changes in this year’s conference.
What is the conference all about?
This conference provides professional development and mentor support for coaches working with both youth and adult competition climbing teams. Coaches from across Canada and the United States are welcome to attend this conference from all levels of the sport: club, provincial/state, regional, national, and international.
For the first time since the conference was first hosted over 10 years ago, it will be held outside of Alberta. We are very excited to partner with Sheridan College located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. It is located on a beautiful wooded campus that boasts many trails for jogging or taking a nice walk and is also just minutes away from majestic Lake Ontario.
An altered format
One of the big changes will be how the content is organized throughout the conference. Instead of a morning or afternoon sessions with a variety of topics, each section of the day will be focused on one overall topic that will be curated by a main presenter. This will help to keep similar concepts together in one section of the conference so that the discussions can be targeted and brought back directly to each coach’s training plan.
We will also have more cross-presentations between topics as we know that nothing is ever done independent of other areas. For example, when the discussion is revolving around injury prevention, we will tie in how sport nutrition plays a significant role in getting an athlete back to training and competition as safely and quickly as possible. The hope is to loop everything back on each other as they are all interconnected.
